What is SAZIMS?

Located in an upscale African suburb of one of the sunniest cities in the world, Harare, Zimbabwe, SAZIMS offers a weight-loss and lifestyle change program under the direction of Dr. Austin Jeans, Medical Director for the Center for Sport & Medicine and Innovate High Performance Center, and author of the “Low Carb Companion.”

SAZIMS believes that most people in need of losing excess weight can benefit from distancing themselves from the endless demands of their everyday environment. The program recommends a minimum one-month stay in one of the world’s safest and premier safari destinations, Zimbabwe, where clients follow a personalized lifestyle curriculum developed by Dr. Austin Jeans, who through his Weight Lite program, advocates a low carb, high fat (LCHF) model to losing weight. The program also offers a cutting edge program on how best to kick sugar addiction.

Throughout their stay in Africa, clients are lodged in luxurious B&B-style accommodation, where they enjoy access to perennially green gardens, a swimming pool, and the on-site presence of an ACE certified Personal Trainer. Personalized cooking instruction is provided, teaching clients the art of selecting and preparing nutritious and flavorsome dishes made with “real foods.” Two gym facilities are made accessible to clients, offering a wide variety of group fitness classes, from spinning to zumba, and catering to a broad range of abilities. Worth noting is that one of the two facilities, Innovate High Performance Center Gym, serves as the home gym of many current and former Zimbabwean Olympic and professional athletes.

SAZIMS clients can opt to help educate girls through Tererai Trent International Foundation or to fight illegal poaching of elephants with the Matusadona Anti-Poaching Project. Finally, the month-long SAZIMS experience culminates with a four-day organized luxury safari to view the “Big Five” (lion, rhino, elephant, leopard, and buffalo) and the majestic Victoria Falls.
